I'm attempting to get #navigation to float to the left, meaning #main should automatically be on the same line. However, it's not.

I've made many layouts like this before, but somehow something goes wrong this time; can anyone see what?

The "clear: both" part in #main causes it to go down. Unless I misunderstood what you're saying.
Oh, and on an unrelated note: great design you've got so far. Mind if I use it for inspiration?
