Ok so they're building Kingda Ka, the worl'ds tallest (456 ft) and fastest (128 mph) rollercoaster about 20 minutes from me. This is a link to a picture of it. Anyone else think it's a bit phallic?

People really need to get more inspiration from other places rather than Cedar Point. You are right, that "coaster" looks pretty much the exact same for that hump.

Some people don't consider TTD to be a rollercoaster because of its lack of a chain, though. But yeah, I seriously doubt that when your ridding the ride you can tell your going 30 feet higher and 6 MPH faster than on TTD. I'd rather ride the originals (cough, Millenium Force (first 300 ft), TTD (first 400), and Magnum (first 200)). All of those belong to Cedar Point.

That looks bomb! w00t.gif Definatley would be a great one to go on.

Ouch, that looks a biggen. Shame I don't live in the states.
bornestar

Tomi.
*mouth drops*

Now where'd you say that is? I sooo want to try that.

It's just like Xcelerator at Knott's Farm and Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. All built by Intamin and most people would rate them as two of thew best coasters in the world. Kingda Ka will bring a heck of a lot more people to SFGA.
Dima
I saw that thing few weeks ago!

That's the park I normally go to. Def going this year!!! biggrin.gif

IT it me or does the left side of that hump look like it has a small bump on it (it's not totally straight)

From the looks of it, the track comes towards the camera, and not down and up.

Boring. Make it higher!

I've never gone on a roller coaster in my life, and I may never. The reason is for all those G-Forces, and two much can cause brain damage.

Thats the real picture from the six flags web site. The track twists around when you go up to the top. They have a virtual ride movie there and you can see what the ride will feel like.
Debbie
Nice shape. LOL

Methinks that's an accident waiting to happen.

To most women it's nothing, to a man it's bragging rights. wink.gif
Midion
I might ride it. I just need a hot girl with me to give me the courage. I'd do it then no problem just trying to show off.
Cody
What Sixflags is that? It looks similair toSix Flags Over Texas in Arlington.....I cansee the Titan in the background thats why Im asking....But Sixgflags does build the same rides for more than one park. I was just there this weekend original.gif

Top Thrill Dragster is considered a StrataCoaster, so yes, it's technically a roller coaster. Many new roller coasters lack chains. For example, Millenium Force, classified as a GigaCoaster, uses a cable lift, which lacks a chain.

Shame the one at Thorpe Park is half as high and slower though!
Wilko
Thorpe Park would be the copy, but its more than likely made by the same Rollercoaster company, most of them are.
Pⅇter
it's not that there's a big market for roller coasters so you're likely right original.gif

StrataCoaster? GigaCoaster?
I don't know if those are the official terms for those types of coasters. I got them from playing RollerCoaster Tycoon. whistling.gif Basically, a "giga" coaster usually refers to a special type of coaster with box track, has no loops but steep banked curves and generally tops 200 feet. A "strata" coaster is the same as a giga coaster but generally rises over 300 feet.

lmao, 99% of the general public's knowledge of roller coasters spawns from that game. It's so fun!!!

I agree. I really liked RC2 & RC3, even though both were radically different from one another.

They've built it now.
