hi Matt , hi all IPB research team

I just want to say i like IPB very much. When i first seen this baby. I know that is what i want and what i need. So i use IPB from 1.0 -> 2.03. and in 2 months ago i let my friends who live in Canada use his VISA card to bought it for me.

Now i am a IPB Customer and i know you are hard work in the new IPB 2.1 version. That is a great news. I saw a lot of powerful new fuction in this version.but please notice that . just the fuction is not enough. when the net user get morer and morer. One IPB site will have more and more people access. In this time the performance will be the other key poting. If a site just has very pomposity fuction but the access speed is too slow. People always forget the access although it has a lot of good content and comprehensive fuctions.

I am a customer who live in China and my IPB board is also a Chinese site.In China a good website will easily get 1-2 million visits per day and 1000-3000people online per 15minutes. In this time i notice IPB 2.03ver make me a worsely state. In the time 8:30-10:00pm when it call golden time. My site almost can't run in normal. Maybe it need words climb to describe its perform in that time.

I use an Opteron 246 x2 and 3G ram and pure 64bit OS and software to attendance the ipb web side and use a Xeon 2G x2 2Gram Server to slove the database backend. But it also not useful. When in the gold time. the frontend web server which just run PHP and Zeus web server will get 70-90 sever load also in this time the backend datasever is not have a nice day it also be dead beat for the data search works.

So you and your guys (i mean IPB research team) who i was respected,Would you please thing more about the performance in the future IPB release or research project ?

Thank you very much .

I like IPB. just like yours

I hope IPB will get better and famous , ever!

Its already been stated that the code in version 2.1 will be cleaned up and optimized to be more efficient.

As for the problems your having right now. What kind of server (specs, ram, cpu etc etc) are you running for your board? I know of a few IPB boards that have visitors like you and the boards seem to run fine.

And you have gone through to make sure it is IPB and maybe not something else running that shouldn't be?

in CPU save menu i close all unneed fuction..

What about this stuff I've read lately about the mySQL-MAX and query caching stuff? I've heard it can increase performance by something like 10x. Does this benefit an IPB type application?

It's not IPB, it's your software config and the hardware you're on. You need to optimize your configuration and get something more powerful behind the site. Use query caching in MySQL. Install Turck MMCache. Compile a more lean copy of PHP and Apache with less modules. Use SCSI drives. Use RAID.

IPB is already pretty well optimized as it is, and you're not going to squeeze much more out of it.
