Is it possible to convert ISO-8859-1 content in mySQL DB to utf-8?

On my server mySQL 4.0.15 is installed and i have root access.

I actually researched this recently. You can follow this method:

as you have shell access. This is probably easiest and least likely to fail.

A word of caution, however, I'm not sure how much of that information is relevent to 4.0.x versions, as it may be just for 4.1.
