Any made a list, or want to make a list, of the different packages out there that offer integration modules with IPB ?

I use Coppermine purely because of its integration module, its great. Means my users don't have to sign up on my site a billion times and they're guranteed the same usernames.. my entire site when its coded will all run off the IPB user table but whatever scripts exist out there that support this already, that'll make life a lot easier!

Few of the things I'm gonna try get done:

1. "Myspace" style page.. userprofiles are nice enough but all the kids these days love Myspace crap, and as my users are generally all local it makes sense to have a nice big page for em. Plus as its a music based page, I'll have band pages on there too.

2. "Classifieds" i currently have a forum which I allow people to sell things on, but a proper script for selling (like phpauction) would be a lot nicer i think.

things like that.

I too would be interested in any scripts which are known to integrate 'out of the box' with IPB as that is the ultimate goal for basing a site around the forums.

Personally, I'm on the look-out for a knowledgebase style script (i.e. where my users, not just admin, can submit articles to it) which integrates with my forums userbase.

At present I haven't found one single script that does this (regardless of the script features etc.) so pretty much anything along those lines (knowledgebase, article CMS thing, FAQs etc.) would be worth a look.

The only standalone system I've found which integrates with IPB is a quiz system called QuizShock. However, it doesn't work properly out of the box as the author's a bit of a knob and hasn't done the IPB integration module properly (it relies on using legacy_password in the members table - i.e. from IPB 1.3 rather than the IPB 2 system). It is fairly simple to fix it so it works though, and there are some other users of the script who have done so and provided the code for those unable to sort it out themselves.

So yeah, anyone who knows of more stand-alone scripts that can be integrated to IPB please post them.

I use their gallery and review software, They also have a classifieds script that integrates.

Ditto too that, but I've given up now, and I've bought another script pinch.gif .

I'm just waiting to see the price of IP.D when it's released, and if I'll be able to afford a coder to make a new module for it unsure.gif .

I'm after a script that can integrate job adverts...

For a knowledgebase, you might want to look into using a wiki.

Mambo and e107 can merge their member databases with IPB, but that is as 'connected' as you can make them.

Looks really good, but 99$ for the classifieds? Ouch. I can see their standing that if you need a classifieds script, you're probably earning $, whereas atm .. I won't be! I might start charging very small amounts for people to place ads (and have a subscription that includes free ad posting or something) or something like that.. but it'd mean less people posting ads :/

Hmph. I'd understand maybe $30 for it, but $100 is a lot of money.. more than IPB cost me!

I've downloaded e107 but I'm having a hard time finding where/how to use my IPB install/members rather than using their forum system etc.

Any ideas?

My download system integrated with IPB 2.0, but its not free. tongue.gif The system is called SomeSystem and is still in early development. But it still has many great features so far and I've got a lot of positive feedback on it.

I found a hack by Patiek that merged the member databases. Works fine for me. I think Patieks site is dev-forum.com.

It looks nice enough, but again.. you're charging MORE money for the script than for the forum itself! Its like buying a car for $10,000 then finding out the addon CD player costs $12,000 to me original.gif Also there's many antileech scripts in general out there that are free and can be adapted, and also at least 2 other anti-leech scripts for invision. I think charging for mods is fine, but I think you need to be a bit more realistic.

If it was a major piece of software, I can understand the perpetual licensing thing, but in all fairness.. its not. Its just an addon.

It's like buying a download system with lots of features, people wil still pay for it, but that is integrated with IPB.

I don't know the quality of the script since I'v never used it, but I bet you can find more expensive donwload scripts on the internet.
someotherguy582
Well... SomeSystem is a very advanced and nice download system. And what does this mean: "but again.. you're charging MORE money for the script than for the forum itself!"?.

Anyways... I've reduced the price on SomeSystem now. And if you still think its high, the Completely Unique Download Manager is $50. Plus by the time SS is final it will have many more features that CDM.

I find SomeSystem awesome in looks and features.

And it costs that much because it is very advanced and secure, and also can run Stand-alone or Integrate with IPB.

I don't know of any but SomeSystem download managers that can do that. wink.gif

Does SomeSystem use a basic "redirect (Location)" to "secure" its files? Or is it actually a directory outside of the root that it pulls the files from and "outputs" the file manually through the header, thus there is NO way that an individual could conceivably figure out a url to the object.

If the former, I have a problem with it being deemed "secure"...as if you gave me a url to any site using the programming logic of the former, I could have a valid url without minutes of the file itself...and probably enough information that I could easily generate the url of the rest of the files as well...

Just want to make sure, because I am thinking about purchasing the addon, but want to make sure that it is truly secure.

Are you talking about when you download files? If so, SomeSystem sends all the information to the headers and doesnt use a redirect so the direct URL cannot be found to the file. When downloading the file it simply says the file is from the directory SomeSystem is installed at (ex: http://www.yourdomain.com/somesystem/). In the ACP, you can easily change the folder name that the downloads are stored in, so if someone finds the URL to the downloads folder, you can easily change it w/o the downloads being messed up.

PS: If you are interested in purchasing, our host's MySQL service is having trouble right now so you will not be able to purchase a license. If you need this really soon, you can PM me here and I'll allow you to pay manually via PayPal and then I can send you the copy of SomeSystem. *And we are moving hosts soon to a dedicated server* tongue.gif
