Full Version: Server Control Panels

I wasn't sure if this should go in this forum, or the technical chat. It kinda falls under both.

Anyways,
I am looking for a server control panel, much like CPanel.
I want to be able to manage my "offline" hosting, as I hate doing everything manually. tongue.gif

Now here is the kicker, it needs to be free. Sad, I know. sad.gif tongue.gif
Or at least, a license to let me use it for free.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chad

Crap, forgot to mention.
I'm running a Windows OS. XP Home edition.

Sorry about that.

I've found the following... Not sure if ANY of them support a Windows' based server though. The problem is that most of them are trying to be extensive and use *nix commands in them...however, some of them might work partially even though it says it's only for *nix servers.

http://web-cp.net/

I like web-cp, phpanel.net is a split of that project...however, again...I don't know how much of any of these could work for Windows. I didn't find any Windows' based ones. What exactly is it that you need the control panel to do? It might be easier to build a simple one (text, links, no pictures, basics...etc...) and then build it up slowly as time allows.

Thanks for the links malikyte.

I was able to find a panel... http://www.thezpanel.com/

Its not the greatest and its a pain to actually get working, but I was able to get it working.
Being free makes me think of: "You get what you pay for"
But I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just something to allow me to manage my local development a little easier. original.gif

...so many of them, and ALL so difficult to find. Especially considering you really don't know what to search for, and if you search for "cpanel clone", you get more results just for cPanel than anything else...or cPanel plugins.

I might be tempted to write a Windows server version one day. I wonder if I'll charge for it or not. biggrin.gif

-edit-
Just took a look at zPanel. That's pretty decent looking. How did you find that anyway?
Chad
Not really sure.
I think I found it on Hotscripts.com

It is decent looking. Just a pain in the arse to get it working.
I actually had to modify their code a little.

There was an issue with Sessions already being registered.
There solution was to remove an area where it starts a session without releasing a patch of it.

Other than that, its not to bad. Just needs some getting used to.

I'm still working on my hosting control panel. It's quite a bit of work.

Supports a master server and unlimited remote servers.

Chad, did you download the BETA or the 2.0 release?

Shane, can't wait to see it. tongue.gif
Chad
The Beta.
2.0 was missing files, apprently. Not sure what happened there.

Beta is ok, still needed to mess around with the source.
