How is Invision Forum vulnerable and to what type of vulnerability if this

fix is not applied ? Is it important to modify these 2 files ? If I dont modify these files then what type
of malfunction is expected in Invision 2.0 (trial) forum.

If you don;t apply the patch then users could force an SQL error message to show. Not particularly harmful but it is better a closed security hole than an open one so I throughly suggest you apply it whichever version you happen to be using.
