Let's say I have a script that is killing a server. How should I go about analyzing it to find the troublesome component(s)? Any tips or tricks from people more experienced with this than me? Thanks in advance.

If you know how your server functions and how the script functions you should be able to debug it yourself from your own knowledge. But if you can't, you're more than welcome to post the script up here and perhaps the server specs and I'm sure we'd be able to help you.

There are server-side tools to do this type of debugging. Currently, they all escape me and unfortunately I do not have the time right now to research this.

If you do not have a test server that you could install something on, this wouldn't really help you anyway. If you can only toy with a production (live) server, you can always TRY asking the administration to help find the problem, or you'd basically have to just ask for random help...like here. original.gif

If the script is a community style based script, something that more than one person uses (such as InvisionPower), talking to the author(s) of the script might help, if the project is still active.

I'm not talking production server, I'm talking running right here on my computer (currently FC3, soon to be FC4). In retrospect, I guess I didn't word my original post too well.

I'm looking for performance analysis tools for PHP or something of that nature. It's something I've wrote, not public yet, and it's of substantial size so I don't think I could just post it here and have people help. I am just looking for some PHP optimization tools.
