To help ensure we get competent staff, we're looking at creating a php/mysql test for our would-be moderators and staff to take prior to acceptance. That's the easy bit. To make it a little more workable however we need quite an array of questions which will be randomly selected.

If anyone can think of suitable questions relating to the running/setting up of/administering of Invision Power Board forums which a staff operator should know, please post them here.

Thanks in advance.

The nice thing about IPB is that once the forum is installed you don't need to know PHP at all really, perhaps you should look more at questions based around IPB. Then again, if you want your staff to be able to install modifications and the like then PHP would be useful. Knowledge of MySQL elts you perform custom queries on the database which can be useful in some situations. original.gif

Also, with applications like IPB a lot of what your learn you learn by doing and experimenting so you should possibly take that in to account somehow.

Sorry, I should have made that clearer. That is what I meant. I didn't mean questions on mysql/PHP. Though we might throw in the odd sql query with an error in it, to see if they can identify the error too, as they are often required in mod installs, etc.

A typical question, for example, might be:

Where would a Member go to change his username?
A. My Controls -> Board Settings -> Change Username
B. My Controls -> Edit Profile Info -> Edit Username
C. ......
D. ......
E. None of the above.
