Ok this is my problem:
I am looking for a word X that fits into this scenario:
Dude1: "What's a chav?"
Dude2: "It's the Brittish term for X"
Now I seem to remember that word X is very common, but I can't remember it at all. Can you help me?

I would think that it depends on where you live as to what you relate it to. Even within the UK every area basically has their own names.

A chav is a chav. You'll have to show them pictures of chavs to get the message across. The closest US term I can think of is "white trash", but that doesn't really account for fashion side of chavism.

"It's the British term for a chav."
Seriously, there's no other way to describe a chav. A chav is a chav. Plain and simple.
