IPB is hosting my Invision Power Board 2.0.3. I want to host the IPB myself. Do I purchase the IPB software and then install it myself on my own server first and then copy over the neccessary files so that I retain my current posts, topics, members, post count, etc? Or do I transfer my existing files over first and then upgrade them?

You will need a copy of the database, i dont use invision's hosting service but i assume there is some way to download the database and then you would upload it though something like phpmyadmin on your new hosting provider. You may also need to change conf_global.php a bit to point to the right database names etc

Thanks, is there any ReadMe on this?

if not using ipb hosting then believe you will need to purchase a license to host ipb forum elsewhere

I have installed the IPB on my own server. Now how do I transfer my existing IPB onto my new server? I want to retain all of the posts, topics, members, etc. How do I do this? I have searched everywhere in the http://docs.invisionpower.com/kb How do you upload an existing forum?

Someone has to know what to do. I have backed up my existing database (which I don't know where they dump it to) and am on this page.

How do I upload my hard copy backup into my new server and what do I type in on this page?

Can someone please explain this in english

"You will need to use the mysql command to import that database to the new server. Once you do this, you need to adjust the conf_global.php file to reflect the new database name and password."

I'm sure glad that I spent $69.99 on the IPB software. The support staff still haven't responded to my customer ticket and I am experiencing buyers remorse.

Considering that you do not know where the MySQL database is, you really shouldn't be moving on. As far as you know, the backup could be damaged.

In that file, you will see a database name, database username, and database username password field, fill them in.

What exactly is your problem? When did you send in the support ticket?
