I can do something along the lines of:
CODE
<div id="test"></div>
<a href="javascript:update_content('somepage.php', 'test');">Link</a>
<a href="javascript:update_content('somepage.php', 'test');">Link</a>
And whatever exists in the somepage.php file will be displayed in the "test" div when the user clicks the link. However, I am looking to submit POST data to a PHP file with AJAX and return the resulting page... for example, a member search form... after the user fills out the name and hits submit, instead of the page refreshing, it shows the "Loading..." text, and then shows the results page based on what was posted. GET is NOT acceptable in this case, as it is an advanced member search with over 40 fields...
For the sake of just getting it to work, all I am using for the PHP page at the moment is:
CODE
<?print_r($_POST);?>
