Sebastian(my partner) and I are working on a project called M1(its our code name for it), its a skin and website we are making for our site Infinity Styles, we have edited the topic view to something no one has seen and we have edited many other areas. But we want to do more with the templates coding wise, so i want to if anyone has ideas or suggestions on what to alter or add.

It's impossible to even try to help without having seen the skin in it's current state.

That's like asking somebody to comment on how pretty a girl is, and what plastic surgery would make her look better when she's covered in a black bag and you can't see her o_0

If i showed you i have to kill you tongue.gif

Just give ideas on anything except the topic view.

We have no idea what style, colours, layout concepts, etc. you are going for. It's impossible to comment. unsure.gif

You're asking me to write a novel, based on a plot you have in your head without telling me. Even Aaron Sorkin couldn't do that.

Okay it doesnt matter what the colors are, i can't share that with you. All i want to know is stuff like add on the board view the board stats on the right or something in that line.

It's like a wsih list tongue.gif What would you like to see on a skin.

Ugh.

You just don't understand do you!?!

All the elements of a skin link together, topic view, member view, forum view, controls etc. They have to adopt the same style and the similar links, what's important for me is that the information a user needs is easily accessible and understandable. And all the important bits depend on the forum, but by and large they're available in this skin, in the right places.

So what do you want to me do, suggest ideas that won't fit in with the skin you're currently coding, or just randomly pluck ideas out of thin air and hope you'll find them useful.

You can't ask for assistance without giving an idea of the skin itself. All we know is you're designing a skin, where you've radically overhauled the topic view, and now you've got bored and want other people to do the hard work for you.

lol wow ur taking this the wrong way, i know how to skin been doing it for almost 2 years and im not saying im a pro, but might sound odd but yes i just want you throw out ideas.

Its not even making you do the hard work at all, i just want ideas on what people would to see on a skin that isn't complicated, its just like someone requesting a custom skin saying they want the header to be diffrent and they want the topic view changed to like vb style or such.

And its not a matter of fitting or not its a matter of just suggesting what you like to see on a skin, now if you dont want to answer that, then please don't reply in this topic acting like i dont know what im doing.

Like for example one guy suggested i change the PM box around so its just like a tiny box and i did.

I'll take a shot.

- The navigation for "Next Oldest" and "Next Newest" is located at the bottom of the page only. Recommend this be added to the top too. The current placement seems to assume users will read every topic. On our forums, most people don't. It's inconvenient to keep switching back to the topic list or scroll down on pages they don't even want to read to go to the next topic.

- Recommend adding or moving the "search topic" feature to the top of the page as well. Those searching for something aren't apt to do so after reading an entire page. IMO where it's located right now is an inconvenient place for those who might use this feature.

- Recommend removing from view any links which a user does not have access. For example, if a person must be logged in to email and print a topic, there's no point to show these to folks not logged in.
