Full Version: Looking for a HelpDesk Application

I'm looking to install a helpdesk/ticket center for my new job. I've taken over the responsibility of completely overhauling and revamping a current web site (and server). I'd like for anyone in the staff to be able to submit a bug and/or request and watch to see not only its progress, but also its current rating (i.e.: when they can expect it to get done, or what priority it's been given)...as well as any comments made by an administrator (i.e.: me).

I don't know whether or not I will want to use this system for long, if I'd want to merge it with other things I'd be creating, or if I could use other aspects of the program (if it's a suite).

I just went to SourceForge to look at some of their (free) product offerings but since this type of software can have MANY different keywords, I was wondering what any/all of you would suggest, if you've used (or made) any before.

THANK YOU! original.gif

P.S. - Free is always good and preferred in this instance, especially since I don't know how much this will be used, but a paid-for-product is not out of the question.

I always check http://hotscripts.com for "stuff". I just happened to view some of their ticket software earlier today... I was looking to see if "CharlesBill" had been released to the general public. laughing.gif

Watty,
At times I also check HotScripts, but usually when I'm searching for something rather simplistic, or something that I know I wouldn't find on SourceForge. Although I tend to find a lot of stalled/never-truly-started projects on SourceForge, those that are worked on, I find to be of better quality than HotScripts...thusly why I stayed away - plus I have to search through a lot more rubbish on Hotscripts. original.gif Which section of HotScripts did you look through? I figured "Customer Support" and then "Help Desk"... That's another thing I don't like, trying to find where I need to go. sad.gif

Completely Unique is proud to bring you the the relase of the "Complete Support Engine" (CSE) the first ever fully integrated and supported Service and Support Module for Invision Power Board forum sites.
The site I will be maintaining and administering unfortunately has no use for a forum (public library website - it's just too unconventional) and so, I cannot use this. Moreover, the description page has a 404 error. Thanks though!

As an update, I've found the following:
osTicket (no demo, no screen shots...)
ezTicket - http://sourceforge.net/projects/ezt/
Liberum Help Desk - http://www.liberum.org/index.html (we have Mac OS X, Win2k3, Win2k, NT, and Unix boxes)
ZenTrack - http://www.zentrack.net/

...and something kinda cool but unrelated - http://panicbutton.sourceforge.net/

I could have sworn someone here wrote their own helpdesk / ticket center, and it looked pretty cool. sad.gif

http://helpcenterlive.com is a great php/mysql/javascript client which is based on a in-line connectability.

I did find that, and it seems interesting enough. Unfortunately, that would be an additiona thing to add alongside the ticket system...or perhaps after when there isn't as much work to be done. I will discuss it with my boss, as he gets a lot of people trying to find him all the time...and he isn't lazy, so it might help him. Thanks for the link.

For others who don't know, HelpCenterLive is a live-chat interface.

It has a builtin ticket system

It has a builtin ticket system

Only the 1.2.x versions have the Ticket System built into them, the 2.0.x builds of HCL has a third party ticket system which needs to be installed along with HCL...

...and the system they use is osTicket. original.gif
