perfect!! thank you very much!
Pantalaimon
RSS Import Per Go - 10
RSS Import Refresh - 60

Explain this a bit more...

RSS Import per go = How many RSS topic feeds you wish to take every n minutes (specified below), I set 10 as not to drag the servers resources too badly...

RSS Import Refresh = How often should IPB grab the RSS feed, and import it to the forums, the amount it pulls is specified in the field above. I set mine for 60 mins (1 hr) so that the lag it creates is infrequent, and the news feeds kept updated. (live).

Glad it worked for you. original.gif

Exactly the smae as my settings apart from the news feed but i was testing with another bbc one http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/sportonline_u..._league/rss.xml but that is producing nothing for me? Weird

That one worked for me, I guess that the feed I was using before is somehow not valid...
ZEROSKULL
still doesnt work.

Hope this helps...

Check to make sure you are linking to the RSS news XML file. (it should end .xml)

That's the only problem I have found so far!
Bazza
Thats not the problem with me i have some working now that have rss as the extension.

The ones from mambo are not working though strangely they worked fine on the encoded version i set up on my local pc but not on b2 or b3 on line?

I seem to be having problems importing headlines from this latest news feed from Reuters: http://today.reuters.com/rss/topNews

Again, the importing seems to be failing due to the lack of a .xml extension for whatever reason.

Great feature btw - my members are already looking forward to this as on our 2.1 demo board we already have several feeds set up to import any latest news from a number of Formula One websites, so they are looking forward to being able to have one central place where they can check for the latest news original.gif

I love the RSS Feeds . I own a baseball forum and its great that it imports news to the board without me doing it myself. Now I just need to wait for the upgrader to come.

I tried this as well and it doesn't import them as I believe you are correct that this is due to the fact it doesn't have either the .rss or .xml extentions.

Related to the RSS feature, is anyone else finding under the 'Task Manager' that certain tasks (such as the RSS importer) are randomly turning themselves off? I'm also not getting any logs from the RSS Importer task.
celebswap
Same here although I think the tasks are only active if you have users on the board at the time .... I could be wrong though..

Just thought I'd post a quick update on this one, the solution is to add a trailing slash to the URL - e.g. in my example above, for the feed import you should enter http://today.reuters.com/rss/topNews/ and the RSS feed importer then does pick up the feed for importing - hope this helps anyone else having this issue wink.gif
