hello, yeah me again ermm.gif i had to purchase anouther licence which meens during the time i never had one i was lucky to find ipb 1.3 on my pc lol... yeah i like ipb... so i got bored of ipb 1.3 so i brought a licence of ipb this time insted of the hosting ... so now i dont have encrupted files original.gif i hope.

so what could i do to improov this ? http://www.bikers--forums.com ??

coz i have already installed a few mods.

what others would make ppl like the forum and make them join , and if u kno any good skins for free that i can get to make it better please tell me where the skins are.
Quillz
Well, you're running IPB 2, that's a good start. And I take it the skin is unique? That's also good. Really, just build up some good content, and people will come. Give it time. Don't expect hundreds of members in a few months. Give it a year or two.

Simple, make sure it's not like mine, and you'll get activity in no time. biggrin.gif

I would look for a better skin, for one. Some of the links clash with the background.

He did that to hide the version, in case of a security patch.

  1. Skin: I would try to find one that is more bikerish for your site. As it stands right now......I wouldn't even think it had anything to do with biking.
  2. Shoutbox: Move it to the top, as it gets lost at the bottom.
  3. Less forums: For a new site the less forums and categories you have the busier it looks. If you have like example 20 members and also have like 20+ forums.....it looks dead.

Other than the above listed things......it could turn out to be a good board. Take a look at some of the resource sites, and try to find a skin that would actually fit the overall look, feel, and theme of your site. Just give it time as it takes time to grown a successful community. Don't expect 2,000+ members in the first couple of months as it most likely it won't happen. Most sites don't get that big overnight. Give it time, and put forth the best effort you can in promoting your site.

I'm no expert on this, but I have started/ran a few pretty successful sites before, and helped setup a few as well. I have read alot of the things I mentioned in threads on other boards about starting new sites.

You are allowed to do that, so long as you don't actually remove the copyright.

I don't mean this in a nasty or rude way ~Biker~ but in my opinion you could improve things by investing in a good dictionary to check your spelling. This topic was an indicator (both the title and the original post) -- your portal confirmed it. I find it hard to read anything that contains so many errors.

Sorry. Maybe that's just me noexpression.gif

Nope I agree with you alot thumbsup.gif.

Also I learned my lesson not to type in all beginning caps.

Example what you do: Hello My Name Is Biker.

What it should be: Hello my name is Biker.
.Wolfie
HellO, MY NamE IS WolfiE

Looks empty to me too. Now there are always exceptions to the rules. Like the new site I am working on......it's devoted to college football......the Southeastern Conference to be exact, and well......there really isn't a choice but to have a different category for each school.

As a general rule of thumb....don't have so many forums and categories unless they are absoulutely needed until the site picks up members and activity.

Edit: BTW maddog39 did you purchase the copyright removal for that skin? Looks an awful lot like an extremepixels skin to me.
cthree
I agree with that. Keep the number of forums very small and split them up later based on need. You can't pretend to be busy. You are or you aren't. Your site is what it is and if you work with that people will appreciate it.
