my questions are:
1. Is there any possibilty to set the order of the emoticons in the ACP?
2. When should one begin to adjust his skin to the 2.1 version? Is this possible with the beta 3 or should one wait till the beta 4 or even the final?

Cannot answer 1, but past experience tells me it's always the least amount of hassle to start skinning when Final is released.

I know that there is a mod by dean for #1... but that's for 2.0.X

If it's not included, he will probably make on for 2.1

I already successfully converted two, IMO it be better if you get into 2.1 so when you upgrade 2.1, it will have the changes and the added bits.
