I want to play around with 2.1, but do not want to install on any of my boards yet. Are we allowed to install a test board ?

Yes, as long as you don't advertise it, allow memberships, etc. - and it's SOLE use is for development/testing.

Downloaded, installed and operational.

Very nice, and easy.

Only issue was the fact the instructions say to CHMOD to 755 and the installer says 777.

i know its the wrong place to say this now but A member of staff should really make a post about "test boards" as i seen over 30 easy lol

I believe that IPS allowed for a "2.1 test board" to run as public domain. Meaning that it's okay to let some members sign up, if they want to test out some of the new features.
