Some stations with older pumps aren't able to charge anything more than $2.99 -- because the mechanical pumps' rolling numbers won't go any higher.

Too bad there aren't any stations like that in my area...
.Wolfie
I'd like to have stations in my area that can only charge 99¢/gallon at most, I'd be mega-happy.

In Toronto, most of the gas stations only have 3 digits, so the highest price is 99.9 cents a litre. Canadian original.gif

I believe UK petrol stations charge for now anything between 90.5 to 96.9 (as far as I've seen) pence per litre

I...hate...you... laughing.gif (not really, but wish we had that here)
Michael Boutros
Ya, but a gallon is 4 litres right, so that's like $3.96 a gallon, which is still $3.30 American.
.Wolfie
Cheapest station near me is already US$3.19/gallon, so it'd still be cheaper.

Edit: BAH, you changed your quoting price on me!

Ok I don't hate you anymore since it's cheaper here. shifty.gif

In a period of 5 hours yesterday, gas at a local Shell went from $3.09 to $3.42/gal.

All the magnetic numbers say ".342" thought, because all the decimals are on the second number of the prices, so there aren't any to make it say "3.42" laughing.gif

Some here in the south east are now over £1 for the first time. I dunno how they'll change their signs either, they probably only go up to 99p.

Wow - Cambridge must have cheaper prices then... I haven't seen one over £1 yet

No there's not many yet, I think the average is about 93p.

Yeah, know what you mean.

In the not too distant future, I was hoping to get a car. Now the local (out in the sticks) petrol station is about £1.02, and the cheapest one is around 90. The supermarkets' own petrol stations in Canterbury aren't much better. sad.gif

there were a few older stations in this area that the pumps couldn't charge more then $1.99 this spring when gas went above $2. After a couple weeks of thise they had the pumps releaced for modern ones. This was enough to finaly make them invest in updating their system. But, it was cheap gas for a couple weeks devil.gif

Fine, be that way! :-"

I had a feelin that's what you did. Just wish I had quoted what I had replied to. Does make it seem a bit backwards when first reading it though. laughing.gif

Nothing like inflation to help places get with the times. shifty.gif

A gas station in this area was just closed by its owner, who was outraged at a 40-cent price increase which happened just while he was sleeping.

Oh yeah, I noticed that when I visited Quebec City and Montreal on my vacation a couple of weeks ago. thumbsup.gif Since there are about four liters to a gallon, though, don't you end up paying $4/gallon? Or, do cars sold in Canada have tanks measured in liters?
.Wolfie
He closed it for good or only until the price changes get under control?

We buy gas in litres. Just the other day my dad wanted to fill up the tank fully, but the retards at the gas station put a cap of $75. It's always been there, but before $75 could get you maybe 85 litres, but now it only gets you 65.

Thats not bad. I know some people in bc, and it was $1.10 a few weeks ago a liter. I heard from some people it went up a lil, but I"m not sure where it's at now.

The gas stations here have long lines, but I've seen prices around $2.45 a gallon. They're making sure that there's no price gouging here in Louisiana, but prices were already rising before the rigs were affected in the Gulf of Mexico.
TMF Group
$1.34 per litre here.
3.8 liters per US Gallon..you do the math...

But in England, we don't complain about the prices half as much.

Just curious, is England's (or any other country's, other than Canada) gas prices rising approximately 20% in 1 month's time?
Joesph
I think there is one down the road. Both Unleaded and Premium Unleaded costs only $2.99, while the average is ~3.50

The gas stations in British Columbia varied alot.

It went from

75 cents (january)

to

85 cents (march)

to

95 cents (may)

to

105 cents (june)

to

115 cents (july + august + september)

i heard that it will be 120 cents in october sad.gif

all the prices are in litre (liter) and are the highest price.

Most stations here have bought new signs - or are using makeshift signs to use all 4 digits. Was 1.33/litre all day today. One station just makes the 1 assumed, and puts 33.9 up on the sign - false advertising?

Montreal was up to 1.49/litre today pinch.gif It's getting crazy.
blush
Yeah, I've seen stations with a piece of paper with a big huge "1" are pasted on the front of the sign. ha.

The one I worked at had 4 digits though... while I was working there it was always high 90's during the day and low 100's at night. For a while it was down almost to 80 though... ah well.

All I pay for getting around is a slightly bruised ass if I do too much of it on the bike, or $1.80 to get anywhere in the City of Vancouver (and back, if it's in under 90 minutes). HA! And evenings and weekends I can use my 1-zone tickets for the entire fraser valley.

Ours sure as hell can.

Oddly enough it seems a small chain we have here called 'Rotten Robbie' is leading the high price at around $3.09 for regular. The Chevron I go to is only $2.93 and Chevron is some of the best gas we can get. I prefer 76 myself because it's the only one that doesn't have MTBE. Chevron adds their "Techron" product to counteract the MTBE, but it hasn't yet occured to them to not put it in in the first place. I haven't been to the 76 lately, but it's usually a couple cents above or below Chevron. Our most expensive one is usually Shell, who have been known to go as much as 50¢ above the others. They've been advertising that their gas gets you better mileage, but you still pay more at some. When gas was in the $2.20-$2.30 range, I saw a Shell station charging $2.76 and they were getting business. Why, I ask? Some people are just sheep... has to be. No gas brand is worth 50¢ a gallon more.

Hopefully this will help us rely less on the Middle East for oil and more on our own ingenuity to design something better. America, Canada, Europe, and the rest of the civilized world can spend the billions we spend on oil, on researching and developing some kind of self sustaining energy source, or running something anyone can get. That, or the oil producing countries will get richer, the income gap in America will increase, and crime rates will go up. getlost.gif

Without meaning to offend anyone here, I think most of those people are stupid. Some may have a valid reason for going there, but overall, it's common sense to go to gas that's far less expensive. Maybe not THE cheapest, but certainly not somewhere near the most expensive.

Drive offs are part of the problem already. Filling up the other day, in a way I couldn't blame some who do it. Only reason for that is because it is a form of protest against the cost. Other than that, I can't and won't agree with it. It's theft, pure and simple. I think it would be funny if those in direct power of the prices were to be in need of help and then get told, "I'm sorry we can't afford to help you, gas prices are too high."
