Hi
Im probably gonna switsch hosts, so i need some info for things i should think about when moving, these are the thingsthat currently come to mind:

1.Make a database backup
2.Make a file backup
3.Change the values in conf_global.php

Is that about it or should i think about anything else?

before the move, change all hard links to relative links, this includes links, images and emoticons.

After the transfer, you should also do a search & replace on your sql database to update any mention of your old URL in linked images to show your new URL instead (if you don't want to change them to dynamic URLs).

Arent most links to images and stuff relative by default?
Alex Duggan
Emoticons etc. are not relative URL's no - however in the Maintainance section of the Admin CP there's a rebuilt post content tool that'll go though all of your posts to update things like this - best to run that if you change your domain name/URL.
TWK
You mean this option ? "Recount total topics and posts"
Alex Duggan
Nope, it's an option further down the page:

Rebuild Post Content
This will rebuild the post content including BBCode and emoticons. Useful if you've changed a lot of emoticons or the emoticon paths.

I'm assuming that you're running IPB 2.x - this option is not in IPB 1.x
