I'm using the latest version of Opera, 8.02, and rich-text editing doesn't work. This is an issue with Opera, right? Can IPS do anyting about this? I thought the rich-text editor was standard JavaScript, but I guess not. Also, does anyone know when Opera might update their coding to work with rich-text editing? unsure.gif

One of the reasons Opera is recommended against is it's poor JS support. It's a pain in the neck for web developers who want a cross-platform compatible website.

To answer your question, IPS can't do anything about Opera. The Opera developers are stubborn and refuse to update their engine.

Maybe if they get enough critisicm, Opera 9 will support all JS. wub.gif

It's not so much javascript that's the problem, it's the "contentEditable" and "execCommand" functions that do not work.

They started out as Microsoft proprietry extensions to javascript that were re-factored a litted and added into the Mozilla engine.

Until Opera does the same, it's not possible to write a RTE editor for it.

Could an RTE-type editor be written in Java and embedded for Opera users?
Matt
Yes, but that's a lot of work. original.gif
