Has anyone seen White Noise? I just got done watching it, and I must say, I am very confused by the ending.

What I saw, or at least what I thought I saw, was Jonathan (the main character) goes to the pier, is tossed around by the three ghosts, thrown to the ground to his death, and the police shoot and kill the serial killer before he kills the missing girl.

Is that pretty much it...? The movie got really confusing near the end, and I'm not sure if it was really stupid or if I missed something. It just seems like such a letdown, from start to finish. The one point I got from the movie was that the main character became so obsessed with the dead that he ended up joining them. That's an OK point, but it wasn't all that entertaining. Like a cheap knockoff of The Ring without the spooky little girl, and with much weaker jump-scenes. Like it was inspired by all those dumb Flash animations...

why is that stuff blacked out?

Because it is (could) be a spoiler.

I saw the movie, didn't like it at all.

Yep, spoilers. Wrap {spoiler}text{/spoiler} tags around anything you want blacked out (substitute [ for { and ] for } of course). Highlight it and you will reveal the text below... but don't do it if you haven't seen the film and intend to, because I gave away the ending (such as it was).

I was just talking about white noise. This is crazy.

Anyway, it isn't that good... Seems a bit rushed. It wasn't even scary.

Watching the movie is analogous to actually watching white noise (crackling) on channel 432

But you must agree the idea was very good but the storyline and the acting was not that good. unsure.gif

If you didn't realise why he was killed then I would suggest that you actually pay attention to the movie. tongue.gif It was a good look into a phenomenon that I would imagine that many people know nothing about.

I tried... and usually I follow movies pretty well. Except for the really weird ones like Donnie Darko (my favorite movie) which I had to watch twice normally and then once with the commentary to understand... and I still understand it a little better each time I see it. But this wasn't one of those movies... it was just lame. And I feel a little better seeing that I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Please drop a spoiler (with tag) and enlighten me... tongue.gif

I've heard of EVP before. I think it's total BS that of all the people who have died (if not in all, then just in whatever city the film took place in), the only ones he was picking up were people associated with Raymond Price or whatever his name was. I could have gotten better information on EVP from Coast to Coast AM.

Whether EVP is real or not... I don't think they portrayed it correctly. At least not the video part. I can see recording static from the radio and pulling voices out of it by really stretching my imagination... but not video. He records nothing... you can watch the "ant races" on TV and see nothing... but when playing it back, he was able to see almost-clear images. Sorry, but I didn't buy the video side of it.

I'll admit it, the plot line definitely could have been better, but I still liked the movie. I haven't seen the movie in a while, 6 months or so, so i'm probably a bit off. I believe that I liked the fact that his death was inevitable, everyone that had crossed paths with EVP prior to him had died. I actually thought that he was going to live, until the, in my opinion, unexpected ending. Perhaps I liked the movie because EVP was new to me at the time, maybe it was the DVD extras (Particularly, real life recordings of EVP. They didn't tell you what to hear, you just heard it.). Either way, i'll take White Noise over The Ring 2 any day, Samara's story just wasn't as interesting this time around. tongue.gif

Heh, I was thinking I should have rented The Ring 2 or The Grudge instead. tongue.gif And I still may, though I don't have high hopes for a Ring sequel. The Ring was spooky the first few times with it's jump scenes (don't click here, here, or here tongue.gif ) but all these wannabes (and sequels) seem lame by comparison.

Well, I haven't seen the video yet, I plan to (I have the DVD). biggrin.gif
