So, last night, I went to plug my phone in, and nothing happened. I took the charger into the store down the street from me, and sure enough, it was broken. They told me they could not replace it with one from their store, and that I had to call their repairs number. So, I go home and call that. First, they give me a useless piece of information:
They can replace the phone itself, but that doesn't come with a new charger, so I'd have a new phone, but no charger. MMm, and how would that help me?
Next, she told me that only the store itself could replace the charger. Cingular "doesn't send out just chargers, only new phones themselves." Even though the people at the store told me every piece of my phone (including the charger) can be replaced under warrenty by calling that number. So the "support line" tells me to call the store back. I call back, and they claim to not have any in-stock (even though they had 5 hanging on the wall, one of which they took down and opened to test that my charger was indeed broken), and told me what he used was a car charger (it wasn't, by the way. Same exact thing as mine, just not broken. Not to mention he plugged it into the wall). So, now I get to wait a week for a new charger to get in, then possibly have to pay for shipping.
I looooooooove Cingular!

Chargers aren't covered under the phone warranty.

Why wait when you can go to another cell phone store and purchase one? I recommend going to one of the multi-carrier stores as they are always cheaper.
Best coverage in the Bay area? Verizon. I can't count the number of Cingular customers who were excited that their contract FINALLY ended so they could switch to either T-Mobile or Verizon. I beleive it's a west coast thing.

Verizon is the best but the most expensive. I had Cingular but hated their service, couldn't wait to have my contract end

. I currently have T-Mobile and it's not bad, although I've recently had problems with my phone. I spoke with them today and they are replacing it for me.

According to the people I spoke to in-person, they are.

Becuase it's under warrenty and I can get one from Cingular for free.
The charger didn't make it onto their shipment last night so they just replaced mine with one from the store shelf (the one they used to test my cellphone the other day).

Then you had a good rep...

According to the equipment agreement put out by the major carriers, it's only the phone that is covered. Chargers aren't that expensive at all (less than $1 for a car charger) - but the markup is fricking ridiculous.
Either way, you have your charger now so all is good.

We use Cingular at IPS and I've been happy with their service thus far.

Yeppers, that's why I said I thought it was a west coast thing. Verizon is great on the west coast - and it appears Cingular works great on the east coast. I remember visiting you bloaks on the east coast in Virginia - and my Verizon Wireless phone was constantly on roaming... which drained the battery in about 12 - 14 hours.

Verizon Wireless all the way.

Absolutely no complaints about coverage area or anything else. It "just works". I'm HIGHLY looking at getting they're wireless broadband access.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobileo...dband/index.jspInternet access basically anywhere I can use my cell phone with them would be cool.

I use Verizon here, and it has awesome service. When I brought it out to Vegas in April, it was good there too. Maybe it has something to do with your coverage area? Some areas do get spotty coverage.

When you are roaming, your battery is drained quite a bit. Appamattox doesn't have Verizon coverage, so I was constantly roaming.
Coverage in Vegas is just fine... was there 2 weeks ago.

If you get that, I would be interested to know how it performs -- please let me know.
