It's a real shame, because unlike a lot of people I don't think TWW is getting worse. I think Season 5 was the low point, but I think this reason is getting much better, and the only reason the ratings have dived is the change of time slot on NBC.

That's unfortunate; when I had the time to sit down and watch the show I enjoyed it quite a bit. Now that it's over I'm going to have to go grab the seasons on DVD.

Ya they moved it to sunday and they have to battle with Desperate House wifes or Greys Anatimy not sure what time its on. But ya its not the best. those two shows have really killed a lot of other shows. I really think that CBS and ABS have really great shows and killing NBC. NBC I think only has Las Vegas which I really like and what not, but other then that I watch ABC or CBS.

It would be nice if a differenc chanel is able to pick up TWW and run it again.

I guess it's competing with 24 now as well too isn't it? Or is 24 on later in the evening?

24 is shown on Mondays on Fox.

It's a shame to see it go, but Season 5 is where it all went downhill. I think S6 was good, but it just lost too many fans because of Season 5.

A great show gone. sad.gif

7 seasons is how long the main Star Trek series ran (The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager). So that's a good number.

I'm not familiar with The West Wing at all really, but I just figure they could have ran Voyager another couple years and Deep Space Nine much longer. I think series that go far beyond seven seasons are weird. There are so many original ideas out there, why not give those a chance, rather than continuing the same shows year after year?

Some shows just go on forever, though. A couple soap operas have been going since the 1960s or 1970s - that's insane! The Simpsons is pushing 13 or 14 years, and WWE, if you include when it was WWF, is on its 22nd year, I think (Wrestlemania 22 is coming up).

Ya I heard an ad for WM22 on the radio today while I was driving.

I know of shows that have come back due to people asking for it. I think that if we try it we might be able to due it.

He always manages to sneak Star Trek into the conversation when your talking about the completely unrelated things. laughing.gif

I doubt it. I'd always had serious doubts about TWW after S7, I mean the entire show is about the Bartlet Presidency, rather than The White House. It'd be a completely different cast change (with the possibility of Josh, Donna & a few others possibly crossing over to the new administration). And I couldn't really see the showing, or the ratings surviving that. I pretty much agree with everything said in this article from Scotsman.com.

There are rumours a possibly spin off could be created, but I doubt that. I think the show has pretty much exhausted it's life. It is a shame however as Season 7 has been utterly fantastic. John Wells has finally found his feed without Sorkin - and I've loved every minute of it.

I can't wait for the finale though, there's a few spoilers floating around the net from the recent press tour when John Wells announced exactly how he'd end the show, and a few rumours about Josh & Donna (one that Janel Maloney was talking about sounds very promising for the much loved couple!)

I read someone's idea of still making new episodes that are only aired on iTunes. I doubt it would happen but it would be a fantastic idea (only if they let us UK folk see them!). I'd happily pay money to see more of The West Wing seeing as I've already spent Ŗ50 buying each Season the day it was released on DVD.
