Full Version: Dream analysis

Normally I do not remember my dreams at all, but for the last 2 weeks or so on and off I have been remembering at least part of them. Some of them have been really weird. Just wondering if anyone knows much about dream analysis, or any decent websites.

There are 3 that I still remember now, several days later.

The first is waking up and finding my house mates in my room, 2 of them at my computer and the other one having moved his TV, PS2 and arm chair into the room was sitting there playing on it.

The next and most vivid one. I was back home, it was sunny and I was outside the house. In the next street down the road I could see a high rise building (the nearest high rise is about 10 minutes walk away). Out of no where a low flying helicopter comes along, bursts into flames and slam right into the side of the building. The building disintegrates as if it were made of dust (it comes crashing down, rather than blowing away). I get out my phone and try to phone the emergency services but keep getting a "sorry, all our operators are busy" message.

The most recent one was being at some funeral (If I remember, the funeral of my nan; who died 7 years ago) and just before getting a phone call from my boss (I don't have a boss right now nor 7 years ago) telling me that if I didn't come in right now I wouldn't have a job, and having a blazing row with them over the phone.

blink.gif Any ideas what the hell any of that is suppose to mean?

I've just put it down to a combination of stress and chaotic sleep patterns right now, but I was just interested to see if anyone knew anything about dream analysis.

I normally don't have dreams but lately, I've been having and remembering quite a few. The one that stands out the most is when I won a $24 million lottery. I can remember reporters interviewing me, asking me questions, etc.

Then I woke up and I was literally pissed off because I realized it wasn't true. getlost.gif

I'm pretty sure that is technically impossible, everyone has 1 to 2 hours of dreams a night during REM sleep.

1st one you are annoyed with other people using your stuff and you just need to get away for a while.

2nd one you feel insecure, things like big building seem week and things that you have come to rely on aren't as stable as you think.

3rd one you feel like you aren't in control again, people are nagging you to do stuff when you just want to be left on your own to figure things out.

Now that will be £60 tongue.gif

Just my 2 cent.

No one uses my stuff without asking, everyone gets on very well in this house original.gif

I wouldn't say I feel insecure, but who knows. In my opinion the weirdest bit of that dream is the message when phoning the emergency services

That I can see, had a ton of group work at Uni this year. Which I hate, my house mate and I are always moaning about it so that may very well be something to do with it.

I don't really remember my dreams, but I do hate it when you start dreaming just after you have fallen asleep. If you get disturbed during that phase you tend to wake up and say some really stupid things getlost.gif

For example, the other night I woke up and asked Bec if she had turned the TV down and got quite frustrated when she said no. The TV had been off since we went to sleep half an hour before.

Even worse, one night I woke up and asked her if she was wearing a surgical mask.

They're annoying because you know you're awake and you know full-well what you're saying pinch.gif

laughing.gif Haven't had anything like that since my first year of Uni. My brother in law phoned me at about 5:30 in the morning, he meant to phone someone from work with the same name. I had a whole conversation with him, asking me when I was going to be in (work), if I was still on the motorway etc. When I got up I just thought it was a dream. Wasn't until my sister phoned me that evening to apologise that I realised just how stupid it was.

http://www.petrix.com/dreams/ seems like a pretty good website.

Frankly though, the idea of dreams as a doorway into the subconcious is not thought of that highly in modern psychology. Stress and chaotic sleep patterns is probably hitting the nail on its head.

I god yeah I know, I just thought it would be interesting to see what people interrupt these sort of dreams as.

that happened when I was camping with my friends, they said i just started saying things to them. I remember some of what I said but I couldn't stop myself from saying it. pinch.gif

I have the same type of recurring dream whenever I'm busy and stressed about something. When I was on the volleyball team - I dreamed they were having practice in my bedroom in the middle of the night, and I felt bad for sleeping. When I worked for College Pro, I dreamed they were paining my room in the middle of the night, and again I felt like the worst crew chief ever for sleeping on the job. During my Greek II class, we had a huge word study due and I dreamed that my bed was full of lexicons, and people kept coming in in the middle of the night to use them. I actually woke up my roommate saying, "Yeah you can use the Bauer one, but I still need Liddell & Scott." and so on.

Every time I get the worst night of sleep ever, because I wake up, or just dream that I do... I can never actually figure out if I'm awake or not, actually, and I get really confused about whether or not there actually are people in my room.

The weirdest dream I ever remember having was my friend trying to kill me. I have no idea why he was trying to kill me but I remember vividly him pointing a gun at me and about to pull the trigger when I woke up.

The other thing I have a tendency to do is drink in my sleep. I have a glass of Ribena next to me and I drink it during the night without knowing.

That could become a bit of a problem if you ever have dentures wink.gif

I thought everyone did that... if not, don't worry, I do it too biggrin.gif

Most of the dreams that I remember are something semi-vivid...usually because my cell-phone's ringing...

When I was in college, I was dreaming that I was just waking up and my phone rang. I kept hitting the ANSWER button (cell-phone) but the damn thing wouldn't respond. Click, hello? *RING* Click, hello? *RING* Click, hello? *RING*

...then I realized I was dreaming that I answered it, woke up, rolled over, Click, hello? *RING* GAH!

...then I really woke up and answered it. I can't believe my voicemail didn't get it first. original.gif I did it the other day, though it didn't take me quite as long to realize I was sleeping.

Typically, you have 8 dreams and a nightmare every night, although, it's unlikely that you will remember more than one per night.

My dreams center around things that happen in my every day life and I can usually pin point why I have dreamt about something.

I have a book on dreams, I'll try and find it Stephen and see if I can find anything on your dreams, although, it's likely that they mean nothing. A lot of my dreams also revolve around what I have seen on TV and my state of mind that night when I went to sleep.

As long as I don't confuse the glasses and drink a glass of Sterodent every night I'll be fine!

Last night I won two gold medals in speed skating. But then, after I finished skating and got on the bus, Iwas automagically back in the US. Once I got off, though, people started throwing rocks at the bus.

I have no idea. I don't even ice skate.
