Ha ha... I'm sure my AMD64 3200+ system with 1GB DDR PC3200 RAM and 256MB GeForce 6600 can handle any video stream commercially available. (Actually, this one time some video encoder I was messing with somehow bloated just a few minutes to several gigabytes, and that choked my last system, a Pentium 3 1.2GHz with 768MB RAM and a 128MB GeForce Ti4400, but that was just a fluke.
Is there a way I can see HD video on my system given that I'm on Dialup? I mean, is there a DVD with HD content as a special feature or something? How would I try that out? I can't download something that big... maybe if it were a Torrent, and download it over a few days.
nothing for free, but you can buy 1920 x 1080 imax movies in wmvhd on dvd at wmvhd.com
Other than that, all samples are 100 to 300 mb in size, not so dial up friendly
My old computer has pretty much the same set up, only a amd athlon 3400 and 512mb ram. And the 1081 video was jerky.
Now I have a laptop, with the same processor, but a gig of ram, and it works fine.
Microsoft recomends 1 gb of ram and a 3.0 ghz processor for wmv 1080. Though, knowing you have a gig of ram, and a AMD chip I'm sure you will be fine. But just above what it takes to play the video.
