Full Version: Installing AWSTATS

awstats is the default traffic stats program that comes with iPower's hosting plans, I'm pretty happy with it. I have a different stats program for a particular godaddy account, I'd like to make it an awstats program instead.

I downloaded the latest awstats program from SourceForge, but does anyone have any idea of how difficult it would be to install the stats program on a new server? Can I just FTP everything up, or will I need some sort of special access to the server?

You need the full server path to the logs for your account and permission to access them. Not all hosts allow access to the raw logs like CPanel does.
You also need to find out what log format your server uses and correct it in the awstats conf if it's not right.
After that, it's just getting your cgi permissions right.

Judging by the many restrictions and outdated services I've seen running on the 3 year old recycled servers godaddy is using for those huge bandwidth, huge webspace, cheap "webdump" accounts, you're probably looking at a major hassle to get awstats working there.
