actually they are useful for topics... but in admin cp we need it in forums and moderators managment...
as example... i edit often forums... removing a lot of them together or empty them... with actual system i need to select every forum and empty + delete... it takes long... with multiple checkbox like.. - select a category and all subforums are selected - it will be more fast...
