IPS certainly is bringing sexy back with their new rich text editor with the toggle button, lighter colors that are more appealing on the eyes, and how everything is so conveniently layed out. I LOVE THIS, KEEP IT THIS WAY! w00t.gif

I have to admit that I felt vBulletin was better technically for the past year, but with 2.2, I believe that IPB has now taken the technical lead. I've also always felt that IPB had a better overall skin design than most other bulletin board systems.

2.2 looks great, and IPB can only improve from here, right?

Not if they keep adding features that a lot of sites are going to switch off. Some bloat creeping in here.

Actually not a fan of the side panel, but will wait and see how it goes on sites with a decent amount of smilies.

Am already being asked by potential customers if some of the announced "features" can be turned off site wide. Apparently so according to the announcement.

That would be the whole idea of being able to turn things off.

Really if you think about it there are very few new big features in 2.2 - just a lot of polish on existing features. We went for thought on what we had rather than just slapping things in. People constantl request AJAX this and shoutbox that but we try to be realistic.

The new profile system is of course the most visible but with one click in the ACP you can revert to the old system.

So most of the "new features" are going to be in 3.0?

Dunno really original.gif We have not formally planned much beyond 2.2's release. Now of course we have a general roadmap but nothing is 100% until 2.2 is all wrapped up.

I of course shall not reveal what is on the roadmap. That would be too easy.
