I was curious if this has changed at all.
(including but not limited to being able to hide disallowed sections rather than just greying them out)

If I get it right, then you mean is restrict administrator’s to see some of the admin panel sections is that right?
If so then I agree it would be great to restrict Administrators to view the “License sections and few other that I don’t want them to touch” It would be simply great… Like permissions for the Admin CP!

I think there's a big update to this. I found this in the bug reporting forum:

Seems to be much more advanced then the one in 2.1

Ok, my question seems to have been lost.
Currently as of 2.1, if you are unable to access a section, it shows up as being greyed out.
I'm asking if it is still like that or if you can now make it so the section isn't visible at all.
