'Ello there,
Was wondering if anyone has any tips on buying Laptops in the UK. I was thinking of buying one and even went to the store "Currys" to see. Their choises was rather small and most of them costed about 500£-599£. Does anyone know which shop to buy from in order to get the best deal?
Thank you

I got my Thinkpad R50e for £399 in Staples in 2005, and they seem to have some good deals still. So my advice is to have a look in Staples
thanks mate.

I couldn't say if it would be cheaper. But if you buy it abroad, make sure it comes with a UK Power Supply, as they can be alot of money to buy.
I believe the nearest Staples to Tunbridge Wells, would be either in Crawley or Chatham.
I'd recommed Shaples or Currys: Digital. There are some quite good deals in both shops. Both have online websites too. Starting at £400..
I have a laptop from Currys and its never gave me any problems just has some pre-installed crap that I removed

My Thinkpad is a bit like that, except it is all IBM Programs. God knows why they need a application to control the 'Battery Meter'

You could of course cut out the middle men and buy online direct from Dell, they have some very good deals, just today through the post I see offers for £299 upwards depending on spec, or you can build it with what you want in it.

Get with the times Debbie
thanks for the replies. I will try to see if I can find something online, but connecting to the internet through a library computer that looks like from the times windows 98 but just with win XP installed. Plus, the internet is extremly slow, especially if opening bigger sites. Added to that, they allow only 1hr per day.
Can't beleive their are no internet cafes in Tunbridge WElls. That ebuyer.com site, i'll have a look at it ... if it finally stops loading.
thanks everyone
Question,
Tomorrow I plan to go anywhere around KENT / LONDON to buy my perfect Laptop. I've got about £800-900£. I want to go somewhere, where they have a big choise to choose from.
Where should I go tomorrow? Staples? Which one would be the best? I have the whole day free so I can pretty much go anywhere.
Thanks
Tottenham court road, London. Bazillions of electrical shops selling laptops and other electronic gizmos.
thanks,
what about ordering from ebuyer.co.uk?

If you go into the shop you can have a proper look at it. Personally I prefer this, but really if you don't mind then ebuyer.co.uk will be ok.
would shops like staples/ currys or whatever have that model as well? I might go to totenham court tomorrow to check it out, but prefarably i would like to go somewhere in the area, somewhere in kent.
cheers

I have noticed a lack of Lenovo laptops in shops, but apart from that PC World has a good selection. Staples is ok but I have found that my local ones do not have a big selection.
There is a PC World, Comet, Currys and Currys Digital in the Tunbridge Wells. The nearest Staples would be Medway, which also has all the other stores.
