I thought that when you logged into your forum account you would also be able to go to the client center without having to login again. Is this the case or no? Or is it not quite setup yet?
(Yes = Yet. Doh...)

If you login at login.ipslink.com, and follow the links from there, then yes.
Otherwise, no. Individual applications do not set the cookies for other applications.

If you can't login to one and be on the other... What's the point of converge other than changing your password? I guess you can force the login page to go to the converge login page?

Only point I really see is for linking forums where at least you don't have to keep feeling out registration forms. For this site and the client center, I am not sure what the reasoning is. I was going to say maybe because once you DO go to both and login it would alwyas keep you logged into both, but considering what Brandon just said... I assume there is a separate cookie for each area, so you still would lose your session on one if you only visited the other for a period of time?

It isn't as simple as applying cookies either. Notice that converge and IPB/Nexus are on different domains

(which means that they'd have to resort to 3rd party cookies [ick])

Since I logged in via converge the first time I have never been logged out of here or the client centre!

Converge isn't intended to maintain your session - that is up to the individual application(s) to manage.
Converge is intended to centralize authentication. User changes password at one site - password is updated at ALL sites. User registers at one site - user is registered at ALL sites (although they may need to fill in additional information specific to each site converged).
If Converge is located on the same domain as each application (i.e. if Converge, this forum installation, and Nexus were all on the same domain) then Converge *can* indeed drop cookies for auto-authentication purposes. However in our setup, that is not possible, since we are on different domains.
