Would be nice to have a way to schedule a new topic to be created at a certain date and time.

I'd love to see this. It'd be very nifty if you were going to be away and wanted to get ahead on your content.

How would this work more specifically? How would you define the content of the new topic?

Most boards wouldn't need this functionality, so I'd suggest it should be a modification. It could be easily implemented without any manual file edits via the components system and the task manager.

It could be used in many cases: surprises, announcements, birthdays, you name it.



Many functions aren't needed and are not modifications. Well, there is already a feature to schedule topic open/close time so this just complements and improve it on that end.

I always thought that was what the topic open/closed thing was all about, until I tried scheduling an announcement to go live at a specific date and time, only to be disappointed, even if it just marked the post as invisible until a given date/time, would go a long way to achieving the OP's goal.

Announcements are different from posts. My Controls > Manage Announcements. When you're making one you can set up a start/end time.

I really hope this made it into 3.0. It's a convenient feature for my forums.
