I think there should be a way to specify that certain members can or cannot access certain applications from the Converge system. For example, I have converged my forums, and then I also have a test board (made publicly inaccessible through .htaccess password protection) that I converged as well. This way, I can have staff members on my site be able to login to the test board as well, provided I give them the password, same as with customers who need to demo the mods I produce for them. But all users who log in on the main Converge page will see this test board listed as an available application, and they'll no doubt try to access it. I'd like to be able to say that just this certain list of Converge users can see certain links on the Converge page once they are logged in.

While it's a nice idea, Converge doesn't really support "groups" presently, and per-application permissions would get tricky, outside of manually selecting users that can use each app (which wouldn't be scalable in the long term).

This is something better left for a future update somewhere down the road when Converge matures a bit more.

Yes, I didn't think you'd add this feature into 1.0.0, more of something to think about for the future. Just wanted to make sure this suggestion was on your radar.

Application permisions would be really useful. I hope it doesn't take long for it to be implemented.

Then I should forewarn you now - it's certainly NOT going to be any quick implementation. We're working on getting 1.0.0 out, and as this would be a huge addition to Converge, it would wait until a major revision of Converge down the road.

Major revision is highly likely to be 2.0.0

I didnt mean that was next version, but IPB2 to IPB3 will be a major revision, the .1, .2 releases are not generally so major. I do not know what brandon is 100% meaning by this, but major revision probably will be when they look at alot of the code again (2.0.0 probs)
