Part A: Things I'd like to see added for OPTIONAL global IDM settings (as in you can either set them for the whole system, OR per category. If you don't have anything set in the category it would use the global settings instead. This would save a lot of time for people who have a lot of categories that all use the same settings.)
  • Max File/Screenshot Size (or maybe even make that per member group instead)
  • Screenshot dimensions
  • Allow BBCode/HTML
  • Permission Denied Messages
  • Download Disclaimer

Part B: Things I'd like to see added.
  • Personal download stats in user profile. Just a field that says how many files a person has uploaded and downloaded. Nothing more than that is needed (already have the files tab in the profile ^^). I know this can be done with a modification, but it would be nice to see it officially. I know it would take editing of a file not normally included for IDM, so maybe it could be added in a small update in IPB itself. Something that says "if IDM is installed, and the 'show profile stats' setting is turned on, then show this field in the profile". It would help tremendously to see who is on my site just to download by being able to see how many posts they have against their downloads and uploads, all in one place.
  • When I have it set to create topics for uploads, I would love to see post count automatically raised if the forum the topics are put in is set to increment.
  • I know there is a setting for "posts per download" but it would be nice to see an alternate setting of "downloads per post". Say I want to give people 5 downloads for every post they make. There is currently no way to set that. For my case, 1 post for 1 download is kinda...low. But I still want to see people posting in the community instead of just downloading. For this reason I had to set it so the member group I'm concerned about can only download 5 things a week. It would normally be somewhere around 15.
  • Letting users choose if they want to be notified of comments on their files. I don't have time to go searching to see if there are comments on my some odd 100 uploads, but I'd certainly like to know what people are saying.
  • If a user group cannot download in a certain section but can view files, it would be nice for the ownload button to be removed and replaced with a message "You cannot download in this section" in red or something like that. I modified he template to do that for certain member groups before and it worked out really well. But now I dont have that anymore because it was too much of a hassle to add to all the skins. But now, when people try to download things they aren't able to they dont even read the error message that comes after pressing the button. They automatically make a post on the forum saying "WHY CAN'T I DOWNLOAD!!!" and I have to keep telling them they can't download there tongue.gif So removing the download button would certainly help.

That's all I can think of for now. Since most of these things would be an optional setting I think it would definitely benefit a lot of people, but not give people that don't need the features unneeded automatic settings.

I hope at least some of these are considered. I don't want to have to request all these for modifications, but they're all things I really reaaaally could use.

All of those are already available in IDM, just not globaly but you can set max file and screenshot size/dimension for thumbnail

bbcode and html are in an option in each category same as disclaimers aswell as custom Denied messages

Yeah, what he'd like is to set global settings for those, and not configure them per-category (but still be able to override them per-category).

Honestly, I have something like that in mind already - just haven't worked out how to do it. It will be complicated implementing properly. wink.gif Basically, I'm thinking of a "Category Filter" where you configure how most of your categories should be setup. Then when you create categories there will be checkboxes next to most of the settings that say "Inherit?" and if checked, it pulls the settings from the category filter - otherwise you can override these on a per-category basis. But, that's a little ways off.

Your other suggestions are very good.

The inherit feature sounds like it would be a great one ^^ I understand it would be hard to put in but I have faith in you. You've already made such a great system...it can only get better, right?

Also I'm a she ^^ -ko is a common suffix in female Japanese names.

I must make an addition to my list.

I have an area where users can upload files at any time to be protected from the general public, but they cannot download files from that section until they have 150 posts.

The problem is...they can't download their own files if they lose them on their computer (and I can't keep sending people their stuff tongue.gif...apparently a lot of members like to lose stuff after uploading it)! tongue.gif It would be nice if it could be set so users could download their own files no matter what section they've been placed in.

By the way...fuyuko is me...it was a messed up account (I signed in to the customer area with the wrong email but it still signed me in...it was just a blank account!). Woops! This should technically be my real account...I think. Meh whatever it's the one I'm using tongue.gif
