Hello People..

My names Natalie and I am a young Mum and a student at College.

I am trying to find a close circle if people whom i can call for help original.gif

I coown a website at the moment called www.vxonline.co.uk

But we have a few problems, me and my partner are going to be buying out the 3rd owner due to a few problems. BUT this leaves me in the deep blue sea basically, because I havent a clue where to start.

The site runs off two domain names, i own one an dthe other person owns the other, but i will be buyingthat from him, how much do you reckon the name will cost me to buy?

Secondly, i need to purchase Invison, am i correct in thinking that it costs about 69.00GBP

Thirdly, He says we need to change the liscence over and that scares me, what does that mean?

Forthly, we are currently using sql/database/hosting on this site : http://www.online-solutions.org/ we are on the premium package but he says the site is currently 766.8MB so do i need to upgrade to the VPS package?

I need some help building the Portal as he says that he is doing it, but im not sure if this will be complete by the time the site is bought.

I know that there is a lot to ask in this message but any help is greatly appreciated.

If anyone could be there to support myself in the change over period i would greatly appreciate it. Thank You

Ill be around most of the day original.gif

No support is offered here as per the rules above.

Sorry but you need a valid license to be able to get IPS support or peer2peer support @ IPSBeyond.

Also, if the site is currently running without a valid license then it will be using a pirate copy of IPB which will force IPS to contact the site owners to ensure a valid license is purchased or the illegal copy of IPB removed.

If there is a valid licence then you will need to get the client area login details from the current owner (licences cannot be transferred) and then you can get IPS support and access to IPSBeyond. If he is not willing to give these details then you will have to purchase a new licence and then get the current owner to remove the domain from his license and then you can apply this to your licence.

This site is being run on a legal copy as far as i am aware but the website is being sold to another person, me.

Looks like you'll need IP Board 2.3.3 plus the Gallery, Blog, and Download modules.

I would recommend emailing sales@invisionpower.com - they'll be able to best answer your questions. original.gif

You mentioned the license was to be transferred in your first post. If the current license holder is actually going to transfer the license to you, you wouldn't actually need to buy a new one. If they are just going to remove the site that the current license is tied to, so that you can tie YOUR new license to it, then you would need to purchase one. All of this, though, sales can help you with on a more personal basis.

You are right, he wont sell us th eboard as it is and says we need to buy our own version on invision, which isnt a problem as it works out to be about £70.00

We wont be having the gallery, blogs but NEED to keep the shoutbox and the Arcade.

I will email IPB once I need help.

I just find this all so overwhelming as we paid him for the site at the beginning, but he said he has paid ofr over £600.00 worth of upgrades etc etc in 6 months, but I cant see where and how this is possible.

these are the questions I need help with.

also, what sort of sites will help me with coding, where I can get the portal page set up? he says that needs to be completely coded.

There's no way he has paid that much...to us at least. If he hired a custom skinner or modification person, it's possible though.

In any event, once you have purchased a license you can gain full access to www.ipsbeyond.com, our official resource site.
Pink Princess
No he said that it was on upgrades and that the site always needed to be updated...
he also said that he completely built the forum..

but i though our site looks pretty basic...
www.vxonline.co.uk what do you think?

If i buy Invision today, how long before i can get the site transferred to my liscence?

when i transfer it across to my invision liscence will i have a lot of coding to do? (a lot of work?) he says the sites all coding, it cant be that hard can it?
Lındsey
Ipb is easy to make it how you want

What is his site

His site can not always be update

Ips only release updates once in awhile

And there updates are free

By Ipb before they shut and you can get the software to day most likley

That site is running---http://forum.vxonline.co.uk/

Ok, so what do I NEED to do to get the site changed into my name?

The physical steps i mean

Buy Invision
Buy Hosting Server
Buy the domain name

DO i need to configure it all? im so scared as i dont know where to start

Best thing to do would be talk to the sales team, then after you get your account set up with Invision, head on over to IPSBeyond and ask for some direction there. original.gif

We're better suited to provide help (and it's not against the rules of the forum). tongue.gif
