is it possible for me to register forum_a and forum_b in converge. import both member groups. and export them back onto say forum_b ?

posts/profile and such dont really need to be saved.. just basically username login name password and email. (and anything else that would make IPB coding want to kill me?)

im trying to figure it out. i could have sworn this would be possible..

reason is. i am the owner of a forum for a clan. that has many sub clans. that have their own forums... so communication isnt great. because not everyone looks at the right one.. so if we can merge it. (like auto register new accounts with specified data)

when the game "resets" we will archive every topic in the forum and start over again. and have it as history. so the posts dont really matter. (as the new round is coming soon..)

i need to figure this out. as i have already suggested it to the other clans as an option. but i dont want to manually import 2-3k members and then have to check for duplicates...

i dont have a VB license. (i hear they have a tool?) and the phpbb one that could do this is very outdated.. so it looks as if converge is my only option?

Our converters can actually "convert" an IPB into an IPB. As Converge doesn't support usernames, it's not likely Converge would be able to accomplish what you want. You'd be best off submitting a ticket to the converters department asking if there's a way to convert one IPB into another (we did it for the company forums when merging IPS Beyond in, for example).

yea i totally forgot about the usernames problem..

would it be possible to just simply take the member table from one forum and edit the user ID to start off and finish properly? and merge the 2 forum member tables?

like. forum A members 1-25. and if forum 2 has 250 members. and you try and merge. you would have to edit them to start off at member id 26.

or would the system freak out due to the time stamps of the ID and creation being off? like

forum a member 4 was created today. while forum b member 75 was created 3 weeks ago. but has a higher number ID than the newer account. or would it work fine?

but then again... it might be easier to have IPS do it. if we decide to have 2 of the sub clan forums merge with the main..

we have one clan that uses a hosted encoded version. (2.1.7 i think) and then another license using 2.2.x or 2.3.x and then the main with 2.3.3.. could prob even manage to keep all the forums intact and everything...

although it would be nifty to just release a script to do it...

I have no idea honestly, I just know it's possible. It may be free, within the existing converter base for all I know. That's why I suggested submitting a ticket.

@uberjon - the converter system allows converting just select data (such as members, but not topics and posts).

even without the topics/posts it would be great..
