Suggestion:

Please ditch the 5 star rating system and change it to display a percentige value ie. 131 votes/Overall Score 95%

A "131 votes/Your Rating 5 stars" doesn't tell us much of anything and it's so old skool sorry to say. I still have to ask why would I want to know what rating I gave a pic?

Also it makes analyzing ratings difficult in the Top Rated area because you can have 20 five star pics but unable to see the real values. I think it would be more appropriatly done in this fashion displaying Highest Rated Pic 100% to Lowest Rated 7%.

+1 or would be great to have only "I like this picture rate"

It is also quite frustrating that users cannot rate on the Most Recent Pictures or Most Popular Pictures pages. My users usually start from these pages, and if they have to click through to vote on the new pictures, they will not do so.

I agree with this, at the least. It's tricky to handle, because these pictures come from multiple locations and, for example, a user may be able to rate images in a category but not an album. Thus, this is a little harder to handle with the permissions aspect, but definitely should be updated.

There is nothing wrong with rating systems. Practically everything uses 4 or 5 star ratings. Whether it be yahoo news stories or youtube videos.

And the reason tos ee your own rating is in case you forgot ever rating it and it's justa reminder what you rated it.

In fact I've seen some popular forum sites have their most popular area be a place to rate others' phhotos. They usually do it on scales of 10, but that's because it's done in topics.

A custom component I use... I am always thinking of new ways to use ratings, percentages, etc... becuase they tell information and many people want to have a lot of stats at hand. I use ratings with stars, numbers out of 10, and percentages all in the same component.
