I'm confused by what exactly converge does as other than logging on with an email address instead of a username, I do understand how it makes it better?

Perhaps one of you clever chaps will explain a bit more for me.

It allows forums to be linked together, say you register your own forums with Converge, and then register another. That means a user registered on one forum will not have to re-register on the other.
