Rikki
I bought a new car yesterday, Volvo C30. It has divided opinion in the office, but that doesn't surprise me, it's definitely a European design that is edgy for the American market.

Is it the one with the funny bum?
Jaime
That is one cool looking car. Congrats! original.gif

One of the sexiest cars ever!! I want one, are they cheaper in the USA than over here?
Ian
Very nice, but then again I would say that after having bought one a few months ago! It is a lovely car and it is very European for an American market but what the heck, if you're happy!

Is that the top of the range one you've had?

Yep, thats the part that divides opinion. I think most people agree the front is sexy, the back is a matter of taste wink.gif

Yeah much... mine was under $30k, they start at $45k in the UK I believe.

It's the Version 2, which is the one with the sports kit, better audio and Sirius radio. I've got a few additional options too, like heated seats, power driver seat, headlight washers and automatic transmission.
DĒn
I love Volvos. I think they're great, reliable cars. I enjoy the automatic diesel too, and the large engines!

If I got a Volvo though, it'd be an estate... so I don't really like the back end - not enough room!

Good choice though Rikki happy.gif

*wonders if i can go to USA and buy one, only problem they have the steering wheel on wrong side of the car*

Very nice indeed.

Certainly puts my lil fiesta to shame. sad.gif

The only engine you can get in the US is the 2.5, which is the biggest of the many you can get over here!!

It is a nice car though.

Nice Rikki. Spiffy lookin ride. I drive a Mazda 3 with is on the same chassis. Watch out for the wheel hop! I'm happy overall with my 3.

I'm not usually a fan of rear ends like that but I've got to admit it looks very sporty.
lister
All the reviews I've seen about it are very good.

I like it but it's probably not a car I would personally buy (if I could drive that is)

Living the American Dream? Firstly I read "Volvo" and I got worried. Then, I saw the picture! Looks like a pretty hot car! original.gif

Edit: Could be my sense of perspective, but the front wheels look bigger than the back!

Yeah it's just perspective, the driveway is heavily sloping so it's kind of distorted.
princetontiger
cool
i like when you buy a car they tell you "congratulations"
i used to be obsessed bout the Volvo s80
Joey Matthews
With the "bought a new car" I quickly reminded myself not to ask if this was your first... (hehe)

It looks nice, if I was allowed to be honest you'd hear me say "it's only a car" and having said that I actually like but I'm not really into cars. When you have a friend who doesn't speak nothing else, at a young age I found that it pushed me into other directions. The front is nice though, I probably sound mad for admiting I'm not a car fan. LOL

Kudos!
~Joey

P.s Just wait for you family to come along, you'll be having that priased away from before to long and being told to buy something which everyone can get into... hehe =) (more family related I mean)

Congrats Rikki, they are great cars! Welcome to the Volvo Owners world biggrin.gif

The C30 is based quite a lot on the old C70 series and has been a huge hit on its debut.

Yes, and I imagine it wouldn't take long to get used to driving from the right side (left side) unless you're left handed?

That car looks nice, but I don't like the back.

Very nice. I like it. biggrin.gif

Love the car Rikki, I hope you enjoy it. original.gif

The front does look cool but the back is more European looking. Now personally it looks alright, but defiantly a different trend. I am no car maniac but if I had the cash I would drive one away. Volvo is owned by Ford tongue.gif
Saviah Wildlife
Yes and Ford has been smart in letting Volvo do their thing, not interfering. Actually they've taken stuff FROM Volvo though. Like the Taurus has an S80 chassis, etc.
Jean
Rikki! It is amazing car!!!! Don't forget to let me drive on your car when I'm going to: Lynchburg, VA original.gif

Goodluck with your new car!

That's a cool vehicle Rikki, enjoy it! biggrin.gif

We've got "new car fever" here at the office.

I bought an 08 GMC Acadia two weeks ago (pics), Charles traded in his BMW for a sportier model, and Rikki got his Volvo.

Keith's wanting to do something, but can't seem to decide.

I really need to get my driveway re-coated. The cracks take away from the beauty of your vehicle.

Or is it the vehicle making my driveway look bad? Just hard to say really. I amuse me.
Rikki
Oh, I agree tongue.gif

Hey, all the young hip people like it... biggrin.gif

Its nice to see many new cars in the parking lot. I get the enjoyment at their expense. As much as I do want a new car myself, I do enjoy my paid off Accord tongue.gif

As for Rikki's car, I like the look of it, but the rear of the car will grow on me, I'm sure. Nice color choice too.

I hear you. My 97 Geo Metro was paid off in 04 or 05, and my Cougar was paid off in 05, so I haven't had a car payment in 2-3 years. It was awesome. But with the baby on the way (I'll have 3 kids) we needed a vehicle with much more capacity than a 97 Geo Metro, or a sports car LOL.

Yes, I need a bigger driveway. My in-laws live with me (we have 5 bedrooms) so in total at our house we have

a Jeep Grand Cherokee (doesn't run, at least well)
an older Ford Mustang
a 97 Geo Metro (gave it to my brother in law - he'll be moving out of my house within a month or two)
a 99 Mercury Cougar
08 GMC Acadia
a Ford 350 work truck

The Jeep, Mustang and work truck belong to my parents-in-law (work truck my father in law brings home with him), the Geo I gave to my brother in law, the Cougar is my wife's and the Acadia is mine.

Suffice it to say, I need a bigger driveway. wink.gif

LOL.. Exactly!

Fast paced, car talking/motor lingo. Very confusing for me, it's one of those subjects I fear being brought up by someone because I can only point where the basics are. *stiring wheel.. * clutch * pedal... *mmmm, motor? I'm being silly now. laughing.gif

I wasn't that interested in autos until I got my bimmer, now I'm all into the auto cross, modding ( not stupid fart pipes or body kits, but engine tuning, suspension, that sorta thing ).

The only thing I'm not comfortable working on is the transmission, other than that I do all my own work and repairs to avoid the outrageous dealer prices.

Ahhh, the good ol' days of me buying a new car every 2 or 3 years. cool.gif

Now that I'm back in the "real" world of being a civilian - the car I have now will have to last me 10 or so years. crying.gif Perhaps I'll even have it paid off by then! laughing.gif

Congrats on your new car, Rikki! (and the rest of you IPS peeps).

I can't wait for the new one, but I'm partial to the e46 M3. Although a 414hp v-8 is going to be awesome. The new 335 twin turbos are badass as well.

Having very recently ridden in one, I completely agree with that.
