I've noticed as I get older, many things based around technology seem more confusing, so please bear with me.
I understand what Converge does (I hope) and there's a chance there's no need for it on my network... however I'm interested to know if there is?
My Network is set up as follows:
Portal Site - Built around an IPB forum which only staff use, it has a contact us system modification for IPB, other than that its just HTML pages with info, although staff have had to register a new account on that database.
Site 1 - 8000 members (has its own Database)
Site 2 - 7000 members (" " own database)
Site 3 - 200 members (" " own database)
Question One:
If I were to now installed IP.C based on the fact I have four IPB's all with their own database, I assume I'd set it up on my portal site. However most members form site 1 are probably not interested in using site 2 or 3... so I would assume that would defeat the point in using IP.C or are there other advantages I'm missing?
Question Two:
Obviously for the minority of members who does use sites 1, 2 and 3 then that would be useful for them... how would IP.C now be installed when those members alrwady have two sets of login details on two different sites?
Question Three:
Does this end up making one very large database which is prone to heavy loads, hacking etc?
Again, please excuse any stupid questions I've asked.
Regards
Jim
