Currently if you use the Askimet anti-spam function, it scans both comments and trackbacks. Unfortunately, during peak times, that means it takes over a minute to post each comment. Users are actually timing it and complaining to me about it.

Would it be possible to give us the option to only scan trackbacks? The vast majority of those are spam and I don't mind making the trackbacks wait. I do mind on the comments.

+1! I think this is a great idea. Why slow down comments ESPECIALLY if only registered users can comment.

I ended up disabling the Akismet Protection. With this enabled it was taking around 120 secs for a comment to post. Now without it it's taking 1 - 2 seconds.

People are not going to wait 2 minutes to post a comment. Please consider implementing the suggestion posted above. Thanks!
