Today we're having fun with non-working ioncube encoders.... and my members can not sign onto my board. I can't enter converge because the ioncube thinger stopped loading and it gives an error. Meanwhile, turning off Converge on the board has no effect: members still can not sign in.
Any solutions?

This is a server issue your host would need to rectify. If you are using our hosting I would put in a hosting ticket.

Sadly, I am not. This has cost me all morning so far. I'm using Dreamhost, might anyone else have problems and/or solutions. It has worked fine for months, just today it suddenly just stopped working.

I've had repeated problems with this. Yes, it's an issue with something happening on my server, and I need to take it up with my host, but it wouldn't be an issue if the code wasn't encoded. I'm all for protecting your source code, but I don't think it's executed very well in this product. If something does happen to stop IonCube from working, boom, new members can't register, people can't change their password, people can't change their email addresses, etc., and people get messages like "that email address is in use by another member" or some other such incorrect message. Something needs to be worked out where it fails more gracefully when IonCube isn't working right, or better yet, release an unencoded version.

I don't mind the encoding, I do mind that now IonCube Loaders aren't working, for whatever reason, I can't get my board to stop using IP.converge at all.
Edit: Apparently run-time loading is no longer allowed on Dreamhost so everyone with the same problem needs to follow
these instructions. Which I can imagine aren't too fun if you aren't very tech-savvy.

I haven't looked into Converge, but does it 'copy' member details into IPB like other external database methods? If so, using the new chaining login method in IPB 3 - you might be able to have it fall-back a little more gracefully, well, existing members should in theory be able to log in.

Yes. Firstly, with 3.0 and the chaining, falling back will be a lot easier.
Secondly, you CAN turn off Converge via the ACP -> Tools and Settings -> Login Manager by enabling the internal method.

Yes, and that's very easy to find if you're not knowing the entire ACP off the top of your head. There's separate IP.Converge settings in Tools and Settings. I would suggest to .. at least make this more clear? I've searched high and low how to allow my members to sign in. This is really annoying the BEEP out of me. Converge goes out the door as soon as I can.

Same problem here, I can't log into the ACP either to turn converge off, 'cos it's not working!
Brilliant!
