Can you buy armour or do you have to loot/quest it?

You can buy it - I wouldn't really bother buying it from vendors, but you can buy fairly decent armor on the auction house (in major cities).

I might be being thick (probably) but Stormwind is a capital?

yes Stormwind is a capital, for Alliance the capitals are Stormwind (home of the Humans), Ironforge (home of the Dwarves, shared with the Gnomes who's capital, Gnomeregan is an instance), Darnassus (home of the Nightelves) and the Exodar (home of the Draenei in Azeroth)

The 15 day trial stole my life. I brought the game but never used it because it was seriously not healthy.

Okay I just bought leggings in auction house, bid accepted (did buy out) where my leggings go?! How do I get them?

EDIT: It's okay my personal trainer answered tongue.gif
Stephen
They take an hour to arrive (could be wrong, that might just be money you make from auctions), you collect them from a mailbox, these are typically just outside inns. If you are in Stormwind there is one just round the corner from the auction house near the steps of the bank. You should have a little mail icon next to your map that says you have mail.

<edit>You've really got me in the mood to play now, typical as my payment expired yesterday pinch.gif

For some reason, every raid boss hates the name "Taurinq". Rikki could be looking the other way, afk, and the boss would kill him first. lol

They've changed it to instant now. The only thing is, the money received from a successful auction takes an hour. Items and the like do not. You can also still send your other chars money instantly.

All you need to do is play till level 10 and it will all click into place and you won't ever stop playing wink.gif

Am quite pleased, still none to sure of certain things but I have got to level 19 now laughing.gif
Rikki
Levels 20 & 40 are when the fun-ness is cranked up original.gif You get a lot of fun abilities at those levels (and your mount at 40).

At level 19 I think you're about in range for doing your first instance - The Deadmines original.gif You should see if you can find a group, and give it a go.

Yeah I did pick up a quest for Deadmines (can't remember where though lol) I abandoned it when I realised it was a group laughing.gif I seem at the moment to keep misjudging the trade district pavements and falling into the canal tongue.gif also yesterday went wandering round the Gnome area met a few leper gnomes of Level 7/8 so carried on went down a tunnel and was set on by level 24 Gnomes shocked.gif thought that was bad to be in with level 7 then suddenly 24 sad.gif I died lol
Stephen
Sounds like you wandered into Gnomeregan, that is another instance but for levels 28 - 35

Gnomeregan is a horrible, horrible instance. I think that was designed before Blizzard had perfected their instance skills.

Okay I did the Deadmines, I didn't know what I was doing (nor do I think the rest off the group did, laughing.gif I died ... I have tried to go back to my body and I am on top of it but no button to get resurrect ... does that mean I have to use Spirit Healer?
Stephen
You have to go back into the instance, not just on top of your body on the map because you body is underground
zigs
Lol no point in doing that I will just die again sad.gif But thanks
Stephen
You only need to walk into the portal, you will resurrect just inside the instance, then you can turn around and leave, you don't have to go all the way to your body
zigs
laughing.gif I was asked to a guild. so joined we did Deadmines.. only three of us but the leader was a L49, we basically just followed and looted while he killed (though did kill a bit) infact at one stage we all died laughing.gif second time I died and the L16... the leader resurrected us ... must say it was fun laughing.gif but it is so manic
Rikki
Well done original.gif Instances/raids are great fun, especially when you get to 70 and finish getting experience. Playing in a group with others is the best thing about the game IMO.

What do you mean it's horrible? Gnomeregan is my favorite instance!!! Of course, I really like the Gnome race as a whole...

Only reason I'm not a gnome? Gnomes can't be hunters.

I had to go all the way back to where I died last night ... not just inside wassat.gif Had to go to the last but one before the ship and pirates.

You will have to actually go back to where you were to continue playing, but you come back to life as soon as you enter the portal (that is important in later instances because the enemies will respawn after a while so dying becomes a huge problem)

QUOTE (zigs @ Jun 30 2008, 02:44 PM) *

An item obtained from a chest or enemy mobs, another name for loot

It is one of the buttons at the bottom of the screen, if you hover over it I believe it'll tell you the key you can press (G possibly?)

It's so long, repetitive and empty considering its size. I much prefer their newer instances which don't take 15 hours to finish tongue.gif

If you push the "O" key, or click what looks like a little chat balloon on the bottom, then click the "Guild" tab at the bottom of the window that pops up, that's the guild information screen.

Does it really take 15 hours?! shocked.gif
Malefickus
Haha, no. That's just a slight exaggeration! It's 14 hours...

Just kidding. It doesn't take too long as long as you know where to go in there and how to get around. Also helps if you don't fight every single mob as some of the hallways have 2 paths you can use to get through, an upper path and a lower path.
Josh Harris
On top of always getting lost. lol

With 3 70s and misc 30+ alts, I've ran that a whopping total of 4 times and would rather not have to ever again.
idav
I always thought gnomer was pretty cool. It wasn't designed to be run through in a single instance really, the quests that take you to different sections are from the mid-high 20's up to the high 30's.
zigs
What is the Stormwind one like? It says level 24/25?

EDIT: The Stockade Riots
Rikki
Stockades aren't too bad. Very short, kind of boring, but you don't sigh when you get the quests for it.
Malefickus
Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I run Gnomer just for fun with my 70 when I'm bored.

You missed it before it was 'fixed'. Previously you could pull something in one of the ramps downwards, and rather than come down the ramp, they would run along the middle and agrro pretty much the entire instance.

Nothing quite like 30+ mobs coming at you at once sad.gif

I find Stockades horrible personally, not a single good drop in there.

Am thinking of going down the Stockades on my own.. see how long I last..

Quite funny.

I love how the comedians are making fun of gamers now though. Especially WoW players when they probably play themselves. original.gif I guess negative-ish press is still good press for the game and Blizz.

By DM, I am assuming that you mean Deadmines. DM can mean two instances. Deadmines and Dire Maul.

Aside from that, since the very first part of it isn't in an actual instance, it isn't uncommon to see the first part of it cleared out. The easiest way to get to the actual instance from the entrance is to take all right-hand turns. Every time you get to an intersection where you could make a turn (with the exception of dead-end turns), make a right. This will take you straight to the instance portal. I must warn you, you won't want to try to solo the instance at level 27 (congrats BTW!).
