I integrated this directly into my forum
http://postimage.org/It is a free image posting service with no advertising. I use it to save server space on my site and I love the way it seemlessly integrates into my site.
It looks like this when you post an image

Make sure you look at how it easily installs as a mod with direct uploading from the board.

I integrated this right into my forum and even added a little upload icon. It's so slick that one almost cannot tell it's not meant to be part of the board.
If anyone wants to see it in action they can go to
http://www.MapleOne.com and click on the Practice Forum, there you can post without registering.
PS. No I am not flogging a link to my forum, so far it is still in the planning stages and running as a test/protest board. I am only posting the link so anyone interested can try the image upload in an actual forum environment.
PPS. I had used ImagePoster.com before and it's the same concept except the ads drove me insane.

That is an interesting service especially considering I don't think your site actually has to host the image. It reminds me of an integrated like

Read the FAQ specs, No limits, images never get deleted and its free.
Imageashack is another service that is so laden with ads that is no longer useful. I dont mind one ad per image but when you get two or three and when they are about spyware removal tools then you know you have reached rock bottom. That is why I stopped with ImagePoster and Imageshack, sometimes the ads look way to corny for my tastes. One or two discreet google text ads would be OK but anything more than that just does not float my goat.
PostImage.org looks classy and is so far completely ad free.
Again, see how I integrated it here, you can post a couple of images without registering to see how it integrates into a forum:

I'll probably start using this instead now!

When I'm on the fly, I really don't care where I post it so much as long as it's posted on the internet somewhere so I can share the image, though, you're right, this one is like an imageshack without ads (well, to me at least)

Yes but I'm not sure if you guys get the MAIN point..... you can have your member upload directly from your forum. It even inserts the code right into your post. Imageshack used to offer direct forum upload but they removed that feature. I looked and I cannot find it anywhere on their site anymore.
So basically I have the link on my post screen (I added a nice little image beside it and placed it near my BB code) and the member clicks it. Then a small upload window opens, the member uploads the picture and the code goes directly in the post screen. When viewing the post its a nice sleek little thumbnail and when clicked there are no ads of any type.

=================
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention
I use Firefox with Adblock plus enabled and I never realized with some of the other services how obtrusive the ads had become because I never saw any of them. By accident I shut Ad Block off one day and I was shocked by how many ads were displayed. The one I hated the most was the shaky spyware removal banner, that one burns a hole into my brain every time I see it. Because the link comes from my site, when a client looks at the image, it degraded the whole look of what I wanted to achieve.

Well, there WILL be ads at some point, since they have to have an income source. Let's hope they stay "clean". Good heads up there.

I followed the owner of the domain and after quite a bit of investigating I found it to be owned by a webhosting company. So basically they are using their spare space to host images. I would not mind a discreet advert for that company but your assumption that it will have ads just like everyone else is just that.... an assumption.

Dude, they wont run a service at a loss. If enough people start using it, they need to start making money. Usually that's ads. It's not an assumption at all, it's a prophesy.

I did but now it seems that imageshack servers are overwhelmed and loads
very slowly... i prefer something like tinypic.com as it loads really fast

I don't believe imageshack.us has ads when it first started. It's just a matter of time before this one does the same thing.

I actually don't mind tasteful ads but I hate Imagshack putting two of the same ads side by side. The rules for most ad serving companies are that you are not allowed to but two of the same type ad codes on a page. They would have to do a banner and a big box but a lot of what I see is two big box ads side by side. In most cases that will serve the same ads and pays twice.
Give me relevant google ads any day... thank you very much

I prefer imageshack to tinypic, cause tinypic delete images from time to time and many of your images end up deleted.

Sorry to burst that bubble but Imageshack deletes pictures too, they say that you need x amount of views per year. If you register at Imageshack the images stay forever but the person who posted the images can delete them all in seconds.
I had a previous forum which depended on images because it was about cars. When a prolific poster got peeved off he deleted all the images on Imageshack and over 300 topics on the forum became useless.
This whole image posting causes lots of headaches and I wish I could just use the board software to store the images on my server but IPB needs to have a script that reduces uploaded pictures to a specified size (both in pixels and kb). I used to have a custom script like this and I had thousands of pictures with minimal server load.

Would say it's a good suggestion for the gallery then
