So a company in Japan makes "illusions" from art work that are placed on a drivable street in order to give the illusion of a faux speed bump.

Story

As the story states, I'm sure it will "work" for a few months until people/drivers get used to them - but being the cynical old bastard that I am, I'm left wondering just how long it will take some idiots to manufacture REAL objects that look remarkably similar to the "illusion" - and then place them in the street with the intent of causing damage to vehicles.

lol

I can't see what's wrong with just sticking to real ones o_O

They obviously work and this just seems like a way to throw money into researching a new way to do something when there is already a perfectly fine way of doing it....

It's not that bad actually, if it works. It'll save around an average of $940 (minimum). If this method is actually effective, that can be better spent else where). So, not a terrible idea, but like the article said, the effect is temporary, though with the new study of the threat of police monitoring the speed bumps, might keep them a bit more effective.

We have had this in the area for a good few years at least so it's nothing new and it does work - even with existing drivers too (least with me anyway) because those are a clear indication that you should be driving slowly in the area anyway. original.gif
