We were working on a forum a couple of weeks ago where one single topic had well over 1 million posts - that's over 50,000 pages at the default setting.

I have seen some with more pages than those links, but not close to a million posts in one topic.

There used to be a topic on the Anandtech forums entitled "butter" which had over 1 million posts. Unfortunately it got taken down a few years ago now.

A popular topic on a forum I used to go to kept having people banned from it and then the staff's great decision was to totally delete it rather than just make it invisible to keep a record that it existed.

we had a word games thread which was a few hundred pages long (was a word association game).

It was a spam topic designed to let the users, in one topic, post rubbish (e.g. one word replies like "forum") simply to build up post count.

Ultimately it started causing server issues because of the massive size of the thread, so it was put into a hidden staff forum (I presume the members would simply start another, but that wasn't the issue itself).

the unique thing about the threads i quoted is that they are no spam threads... you can go and check wink.gif

The forum still exists, it's http://forums.anandtech.com - and no, t's not an Asia only website (if anything it's more US only) - it's a technology website. One of the most famous. Infact, Anandtech uses FuseTalk, which was originally written for that site when their previous UBB forums died.

Edit: Here's an example of how famous the site is: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/05/18/mu...nandtech_forum/
