I thought of this some time ago. Forums these days have some really nice ways to ban and distrupt trouble users, but it's not perfect.

Either these ideas:

1. Ban (or lock/suspend) user if they made x posts that are exactly the same (like one after another maybe).
2. Ban (or lock/suspend) user if they made x posts that have something in common (same images or certain words) one after another.

I've seen this work on image board scripts. Some tries a raid and they get banned even if there aren't staff online.

Sometimes you accidentally triple click, when page does not refresh, n then suddenly u see same post three times.... in that case uwould get banned ??

Some times a member may use [quote] button and it my contain images, which will be posted again, then again u will be banned ??

Yep that happens a lot on a lot of sites.
Just use the flood control and the auto merge instead of an auto ban.

Flood control doesn't do much.

It does do one thing really well and that is it annoys people. wink.gif

A better way to stop spam would be automatically moderating posts of members with under x posts that contain x many instances of words that the admin specifies.

In fact, I'm all for auto-moderating ANY posts that have the word "nokia" in them. (really, I am. tongue.gif)

Set up a new group that has all their posts moderated and dump members new members into it. Once they make x posts have them auto promoted to regular members group. Unapproved posts (to my recollection) would not count till approved by moderators.

I stated posts that have instances of words that the admin specifies, I've seen it used on a site before, and really, it's easier on staff than moderating every post of new members. wink.gif

I think some way to make moderation easier for staff of IPB forums would be a step in the right direction (not just the new report controls). I've always found the moderation controls of IPB to be a bit behind unless you mod it.

In my case I have a forum without much staff. I'd hate to have harmful posts sitting around for hours.
